CABO SAN LUCAS — Dana White and his wife Anne brought in the New Year with a bang… literally. That’s because the turbulent lovebirds were caught on video assaulting each other inside a crowded Cabo San Lucas nightclub on New Year’s Eve. The donnybrook took place at El Squid Roe. Cell phone footage shows Anne slapping Dana first. Rather than turn the other cheek, the UFC honcho delivered his best Will Smith impersonation as friends jumped in to intervene. Eyewitnesses said both were drunk as a skunk. But Dana, 53, told TMZ there’s no excuse for his deportment. It’s his assertion men should never attack women regardless the circumstances. “You’ve heard me say for years, ‘There’s never ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman,’ and now here I am on TMZ talking about it,” he bemoaned. Anne also spoke with TMZ, claiming this is the first time her husband has ever hit her. “Dana and I have been married for almost 30 years,” she said.

“To say this is out of character for him is an understatement — nothing like this has ever happened before. Unfortunately, we were both drinking too much on New Year’s Eve and things got out of control, on both sides. We’ve talked this through as a family and apologized to each other. I just hope people will respect our privacy for the sake of our kids.”

Social media reaction was wild.

One viewer wrote, “Women are equal to men, right? She slapped him first so she deserved it.”

Another chimed in with, “It was self-defense.”

A third observer added, “Yeah, right. The first time my ass. If they did it in public, imagine in private.” 

Dana and Anne have been married 26 years and share three children.

  3. If anything, he should be appreciated for his obvious gentleness toward women. She put her whole body into a slap that caught him square and he gave her an understandably retaliatory pat from reflex. Anyone who judges him should first be slapped by his wife in the exact same way. Eight or nine out of ten would return her blow. Everyone laughed when Jay Z was assaulted by his wife’s sister.   9. I don’t think he should have slapped her, but it honestly wasn’t that hard at all. I mean she clearly hit him almost as hard as she could. He could have easily decimated her. It was a taking control of the situation slap. He didn’t hurt her.

  10. My gut always told me this guy was full of ego, something just wasn’t right about his personality. I would predict, that this is not the first time he’s had physical altercations with her. BOTH men, and women need to keep their hands off of each other regarding violence, and learn to talk more like grownups, walk away, and resolve it like adults (it’s almost always a control/power struggle). So, they met at like 12! Cute! But also super codependent, (maybe they were both heavily abused as children to be so eager to attach to one another at a young age). In other words, he’s projecting to the world: We’ve been together our whole lives, I cannot leave her, we have a family, 3 kids, in other words, people cheat bro, but the kids i’m worried about! Booze ruin people’s lives no matter how much people think they are “hard/tough” or how much they enjoy it; you hit blackout levels of intoxication, the childish shadow side of the personality is free to run wild from the subconscious mind! What bothers me about Dana White, is he’s so scripted with everything he says, eye brows shoot up to try to appear genuine, responsible and sorry. Again, it seems scripted to me: “This is how a man acts.” Dana always seems to be puffing his chest out (seems like a really insecure guy beneath the facade).
