WASHINGTON — “Be my successor, or you ain’t black!” Yessir. Joe Biden is out. Kamala Harris is in. In a shocking development, Sleepy Joe dropped out of the presidential race on Sunday — becoming the first sitting president to do so during the election cycle. Then, to compound matters, the Commander-in-Chief endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor. Biden’s announcement came on the heels of a disastrous debate with Republican nominee Donald Trump that raised all kinds of questions about his cognitive status. Democrats urged him to step down. They got their wish. “While it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus entirely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term,” Biden, 81, said in a statement. He also said it’s “the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president.”
Hours after the proclamation, Harris raked in roughly $50 million in grassroots donations — a clear sign America is finally ready for its first female president. The political redbone also garnered ample support from fellow Democrats. Among them are quondam President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton — the former secretary of state and Democratic nominee in 2016. Governors Gavin Newsom of California and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania also pledged their allegiance.
“On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and for his decades of service to our country,” Harris, 59, said.
“His remarkable legacy of accomplishment is unmatched in modern American history, surpassing the legacy of many Presidents who have served two terms in office… With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done throughout his life of service: putting the American people and our country above everything else. I am honored to have the President’s endorsement… I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party, and unite our nation, to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda… Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.”
Social media reaction was priceless.
One commenter wrote, “Lmao. Someone somehow worse than Biden.”
Another chimed in with, “Tired of seeing this crusty Indian lady asking for money. Bitch, you sent all our money to Israel when the American people literally said not to. You and Biden committed treason! You both belong in jail!”
A third person added, “I am voting for Kamala. She is a highly qualified candidate and is way better than the wannabe dictator, perverted orange man and creepy Uncle Joe.”
Trump, 78, said Biden did the right thing by dropping out because he wasn’t fit to be president in the first place.
