ST. LOUIS — When murder-for-hire doesn’t go as planned. Cornelius Green, a married man and quondam middle school principal, was thrown in the slammer after he remunerated his childhood friend to delete his gravid paramour. The contract killing transpired on March 24, 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri. But it took 8 years to get a conviction. According to police reports, Cornelius had an affair with 30-year-old Jocelyn Peters — a teacher at Mann Elementary School. He promised to divorce his wife. But it never came to fruition. Instead… Cornelius ended up getting Jocelyn pregnant and, when she refused to get an abortion, he tried to poison her by crushing prescription pills and putting ’em in her oatmeal. When that didn’t work, Cornelius paid his homeboy — Phillip Cutler — $2,500 to give Jocelyn a dirt nap from money he purloined from a school fundraiser.

Here’s what went down: Phillip, 46, was residing in Muskogee, Oklahoma and he was down on his luck. So, Cornelius sent him a UPS package containing the aforementioned mazuma and he used the school’s return mail address. As soon as Phillip arrived in St. Louis, Cornelius gave him keys to both his Kia Optima and Jocelyn’s apartment. Then he took a train to Chicago, Illinois to establish an alibi.
While Cornelius was chillin’ in the Windy City, Phillip drove to Jocelyn’s residence and let himself in using the keys Cornelius gave him.
He creeped up on the expectant mother as she was preparing baby shower invitations and shot her in the eye — using a potato as a gun silencer.
Very creative.
Jocelyn was 7 months pregnant when she was killed.
Once her quietus was confirmed, Cornelius returned to St. Louis and pretended he had nothing to do with the femicide.
But investigators had ample evidence he procured Jocelyn’s demise.
Cornelius, 42, and Phillip were arrested and charged with two counts of murder for both Jocelyn and her unborn child, Micah Leigh.
They were convicted and sentenced in June 2024.
Prosecutors sought the death penalty.
But Cornelius and Phillip received two consecutive life sentences apiece.
Social media reaction was vicious.
One commenter wrote, “She was sleeping with a married man. An unattractive, overweight one at that. She was out of pocket. It was not worth it. She lost her life over a trash bag of a man. She didn’t deserve what she got, but she put herself in harms way.”
Another chimed in, “Married men never leave their wives… EVER!”
A third person added, “Simps would rather go to prison than pay child support. Smh.”

Dealt with someone similar, talking wise . It never made it to the dating/relationship stage . He said they were separated but lived together & that was my first red flag .
Green destroyed his friend’s life, his life, his girlfriend’s life and his unborn child. This did not make sense killing a person because he didn’t want a relationship or the child.
