NASHVILLE — The adventures of Pookie & Ray Ray continue. Donovan Holt, 33, was thrown in the slammer after he murdered his wife, 29-year-old April Lynn Holt, because she sought a divorce. The uxoricide transpired on July 31, 2023 at their residence in Nashville, Tennessee. But Donovan wasn’t apprehended until a year later. According to multiple reports, April told her down-low hubby she was sick and tired of his bullsh*t and she was sundering all things connubial. As the quarrel intensified, Donovan strangled April. Then, two weeks later, he had their 7-year-old son descry her cadaver before calling police. When officers arrived, they found April sprawled out on the bathroom floor with a plastic bag over her head. Coroners ruled it a suicide. But April’s mom, Jamie Dickerson, suspected foul play. “The phone rang, and it was Donovan, and he was upset – kind of like a panic upset,” she said. “He was like, ‘We found April she wasn’t breathing and she’s in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.’”
A year later, at Jamie’s behest, the Nashville Cold Case unit reopened the case. It was her assertion Donovan staged the crime scene. “They closed April’s case,” Jamie said. “DA and everyone agreed to close it. I got up, marched out of that room and said ‘I’m not done, I’m going to keep investigating.’” Donovan — who was living in San Antonio, Texas — was arrested after being indicted by a grand jury on charges of reckless homicide, tampering with evidence and false reporting. He was extradited to Nashville.
The key turning point, however, came in the form of a confession.
Overwhelmed with guilt, Donovan finally came clean during a FaceTime confabulation with Jamie.
“He just goes into how he killed her and he described how he killed her,” Jamie recalled.
“How he strangled her and that he didn’t know what to do.”
Jamie recorded the conversation and turned it over to police.
Social media reaction was wild.
One commenter wrote, “She was way too pretty for this dude. No way he’d get another woman that fine and he knew it.”
Another chimed in with, “Damn man. Over a woman? Just divorce her and be done. As the scriptures say, ‘Many men have lost their minds because of women and have become slaves because of them. Many have perished or stumbled or sinned because of women.’ Too many men raised by women create this. Charge it to the game!”
A third person added, “When the ugly dude gets the pretty girl, the result is usually death. Ladies, choose better.”
Donovan and April appeared to be the perfect couple online.
But, behind closed doors, it was absolute hell.
April leaves behind two children.

So many young women today have lowered their standards. I’m 50 and I don’t remember these types of killings when I was growing up. You can see the hurt on his face when she said that they were divorcing. She was too pretty for his ugly, out of shape ass. We didn’t go for that back in the day. We either went for looks, money or a man that treated us like a queen 👸🏾
