COLUMBUS — “🎵It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.🎵” Tyona Dunkle, 41, was thrown in the slammer after she murdered her sister-in-law, Ghanaian-American singer Britney Boateng, out of jealousy. The homicide transpired around 1 a.m. on Novenber 21, 2022 at their residence in Columbus, Ohio. According to reports, Tyona and Britney had contretemps about something trivial. As the argument intensified, Tyona pulled out a gun and opened fire — striking the 22-year-old songstress multiple times. Paramedics arrived, but it was too late. Britney, 22, was pronounced dead at the scene. She leaves behind a young daughter. Tyona was arrested and charged with murder. What’s sad is Britney, who started singing at 6 years old, was on her way to stardom. She has several music videos on YouTube. Her songs can also be found on Amazon and Spotify.
“She was just a sweet soul,” said Ricky McElroy, a supervisor at the Buckeye Ranch who produced Britney’s music.
“Her talent was unbelievable, but just her care for people — her love for people — was amazing.”
Britney’s father, Ernest Boateng, echoed a homogeneous sentiment. “She had life in her,” he recalled. “And with her life being taken away so shortly… I don’t know how long it would take for me to get that out of my mind. Spiritually, I know she’s around because she knew the kind of love that I have for her.” Cynthia Engmann, president of Ghana Council Ohio, believes mothaf*ckas are too trigger-happy in the United States.
“This is one of the unfortunate situations of gun violence we are experiencing not only in Columbus, Ohio, but in the whole of America,” she bemoaned.
“It doesn’t hit you until it’s next-door. I think something more needs to be done about gun violence, and that will help and make us safe within the community.”
Social media reaction was equally venomous.
One commenter wrote, “Old rusty, dusty, dirty, washed-up, IN-HOUSE HATERS are the worst.”
Another person added, “This is why people need to separate themselves from certain ‘family’ members. It can cost you your life!”
Britney was not only talented, she was nothin’ short of prepossessing.
Her inspirations included Beyoncé, Whitney Houston, Tamela Mann, and CeCe Winans.
Conversely, Tyona looks absolutely terrible. Her teeth are all f*cked up. She’s fried.
