HOUSTON — “🎵It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.🎵” George Foreman has migrated to that big boxing ring in the sky. The two-time heavyweight champion kicked the bucket on March 21, 2025. He was 76. George was encircled by loved ones when he passed away at a hospital in Houston, Texas. Scuttlebutt has it he had a negative reaction to the COVID vaccine. George’s family released the following statement: “Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr… We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.” The sports world expressed sympathy via social media. “Condolences to George Foreman’s family,” fellow boxing champ Mike Tyson wrote. “His contribution to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten.” Former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen wrote, “Rest in peace, George Foreman. Your legacy lives on.”
Quondam NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, selected second overall by the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFL draft, added, “Rest in Peace to the LEGENDARY George Foreman who passed away at 76. More than just a World Heavyweight Champ, Olympic Gold Medalist and George Foreman Grill-maker. He was a Man of God, a Preacher and the embodiment of Power. Prayers up for Big George and his family.”
George is perhaps best known for the legendary “Rumble in the Jungle” bout with Muhammad Ali in 1974 in Kinshasa, Zaire.
George got knocked out in the 8th round, suffering his first defeat.
But many believe it’s the greatest fight of all time.
George (76-5, 68 KOs) had as many marriages as he had defeats — 5.
He’s survived by his current wife — Mary Joan Martelly — and 12 children.

He was a testimony of what a man of God can achieve
Now George will make his grills in heaven with Ali and Frazier
We better give our current living legends their flowers 💐 now such as Mike Tyson,Larry Holmes, Lennox Lewis,Buster Douglas,Riddick Bowe & Evander Holyfield.

FOREMAN was the last living boxer from the heavyweight GOLDEN YEARS! I feel blessed to have witnessed those classic fights on TV, free, in the 70’s! George Foreman helped shape my early years !
Other than Ali, name another boxer who is so universally loved? Tyson is close but still has haters. Everyone loves big George. Don’t cry because he’s gone. Be happy he was here….. 🥊

“The last of the Big Four has left us. First Frazier (2011), then Ken Norton (2013), Muhammad Ali (2016), and now Foreman (2025). This truly marks the end of a golden era in boxing. Their rivalries, heart, and greatness will never be forgotten. Legends never die. Rest in peace, champions.”
