FRISCO — Murder or self-defense? Karmelo Anthony, a 17-year-old student-athlete at Frisco Centennial High School, was thrown in the slammer after he murdered 17-year-old Austin Metcalf during a seating dispute. The sanguinary ordeal transpired on April 2, 2025  at a rainy track meet in Frisco, Texas. According to reports, Austin — a junior at Memorial High School — told Karmelo to egress his team’s tent. But, rather than comply, Karmelo grabbed his backpack and reached inside. Then he said, “Touch me and see what happens.” After Austin shoved him, Karmelo pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest. A bloodied Austin died in his twin brother’s arms seconds later. “I whipped my head around, and then all of a sudden I see him running down the bleachers just grabbing his chest,” recalled Austin’s brother, Hunter Metcalf. “I put my hand on there, tried to make [the bleeding] stop, and I grabbed his head and I looked in his eyes. I just saw his soul leave, and it took my soul, too.”

When police officers arrived, Karmelo claimed self-defense. “I was protecting myself,” he explained. “He put his hands on me.” Karmelo was handcuffed, arrested and charged with murder. Many believe racism was involved. That’s because Karmelo is black and Austin is white. To add insult to homicide, Karmelo’s parents set up a GiveSendGo fundraiser. So far, they’ve raised roughly $200,000.

Black Lives Matter is also giving their support.

“The narrative being spread is false, unjust, and harmful,” Karmelo’s family said in a statement.

“As a family of faith, we are deeply grateful for all of your support during this trying period. Your prayers and assistance mean more to us now more than ever.”

Social media reaction was vicious.

One commenter wrote, “If the skin colors were reversed, cities would be burning.”

Another chimed in with, “Has a black person ever been charged with a hate crime with all the cases we’ve seen over the last few years?”

A third person added, “Moral of the story: Keep your f*cking hands to yourself.”

Did Karmelo commit a hate crime?

Should he spend the rest of his existence behind bars?

  1. Self defense, Metcalf was the aggressor and Texas is a stand your ground state…

  2. We tax payers give him that money because you know 98% of that money come from welfare or government checks so it come out of tax payers pockets
