MIAMI — Attempted murder or self-defense? Bridget Knighton is crying foul after her fiancé, 55-year-old trucker Gayle Blount, shot her multiple times then walked free. Ain’t that a bitch? The sanguinary ordeal transpired on May 21, 2021 at their Miami Gardens apartment. Following an argument, Gayle — a former military police officer with a history of blasting mothaf*ckas in Iraq — claimed Bridget reached for her gun. So he pulled out a Glock 40 and shot her 8 times in her legs and stomach. “Mr. Blount believed she was going for that firearm,” defense attorney Jonathan Jordan told the jury at Gayle’s attempted murder trial. “He’s trained in firearms. This is not an attempted murder case. He needed to save his own life and that’s what he did.” When police arrived, they found Bridget “all alone in a pool of blood bleeding out.” She was hospitalized nearly 2 months, she underwent 11 surgeries, and 4 years later she’s still suffering from her injuries and she’s confined to a wheelchair.

Gayle claimed self-defense and the court let him walk after he served 4 years behind bars.
“The defendant is to be released immediately,” Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Ellen Sue Venzer said after the verdict was read, prompting a thunderous shout of jubilation in the courtroom.
Jordan said Bridget shouldn’t have been within close proximity of Gayle because she filed a restraining order against him in February 2021 after he shoved her into a table at a Denny’s restaurant. The incident was captured on video. “We showed it to the jury – after they heard what she said, they chose to acquit him,” Jordan said. Court records also show Gayle was arrested seven times on charges of kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated stalking, domestic battery and attempted murder.
But most of the charges were dropped.
“I can’t even say I’m shocked,” Bridget said in reaction to the verdict.
“You can have a restraining order, be shot eight times, and not want to take responsibility for what you have done. I’m afraid for my life. That hasn’t changed. I’m going to be relentless in my pursuit of justice. It’s not over. It’s not over.”
Social media reaction was wild.
One commenter wrote, “The criminal justice SYSTEM is Satan👿.”
Another person added, “They DON’T care about us black women and the abuse we suffer. But… if you are a GABBY PETITO-type, they will make a whole MOVIE off of your domestic violence situation for the world 🌎 to see. Smh.”

I need a lawyer to explain. How did he Gayle Blount get off twice? The clip I saw at dennys with the 2 of them he shoved her on the table. She was standing close in front of him. In that clip she didn’t put hands on her. He yelled to her get out my face. When she didn’t he shoved her on the table

He is gonna kill someone and then they say something stupid like he should’ve been in jail… and it’ll be too late! They made it so that her life meant nothing. Ladies please leave a man the first time he makes you even flinch. Leave him the first time he calls you out your name. Leave him THE. FIRST. TIME. PERIODT.
Restraining orders do absolutely nothing. Cops do nothing until they’re coming to pick up your body or arrest you for protecting yourself.

See, that’s the problem. Women think it’s just a piece of paper. Women have got to stop being victims and afraid of these cowards. Get your Order of Protection, then arm yourself. If he comes near you and you send him to his “Maker”, your restraining order is your “get out of jail free card”. Too many women fester in jail because they thought a piece of paper can’t protect you. Well, if you get tired of being tired and protect yourself, you’ll find out that piece of paper will protect you legally! I know from experience. He’s been a ghost for over 40 years!
And this is why hell is full of sleazeball attorneys
